This week, as part of the relationship with the PFA, the Edukick players were treated to an afternoon with Liverpool FC & Ivory Coast star Kolo Toure.
Kolo is currently undertaking his UEFA B coaching award with the professional footballers association and needed a reliable and well drilled team to work with for his coaching session, so the PFA recommended Edukick.
Taking time to travel from Liverpool, prior to his training in preparation for the Merseyside Derby against Everton in the week, in which Liverpool came out 4-0 winners, Kolo came to the EduKick training ground and led an afternoons training.
For the lads it was a great experience and opportunity to listen and take tips from a player at the top of his game. Kolo started his career in the UK at Arsenal, making 326 appearances for the London club. In 2009 he moved to Manchester City, where he helped them win their first title in 44 years, alongside his younger brother Yaya. In 2013 Kolo moved from Manchester to Liverpool, joining the red half of Liverpool. Being only one of six players to win the premier league title with two clubs (Manchester City & Arsenal) Kolo is well placed to really showcase to the edukick lads what top level professional football is like. Internationally Kolo is the second most capped Ivory Coast player.
During the session at EduKick, Kolo took the lads through a small technical session before moving onto a phase of play, where he was able to really put into practice his experience with real life examples of situations.
A great afternoon for the boys and one they will remember for a long time.
