PFA Session in the Sun
PFA Session in the Sun
As spring broke this week the sun was out for the boys as they attended the PFA coaching at Curzon Ashton.
Over the season the Edukick team have been present at nearly all of the PFA coach education days, giving opportunities for the players to meet and be coached by such players as Quinton fortune, former South African international and Manchester United star who played under Sir Alex Ferguson for seven years, Trevor Sinclair who played for England 12 times and is still seen as the goal of the FA cup, when he scored an overhead bicycle kick against Barnsley for QPR and current Manchester United and England star Michael Carrick.
This week the lads were treated to session from Gerry Harrison, Chris Hurst and Michael Raynes.
Gerry is a former professional football who has played in the football league for a host of clubs including Watford, Bristol City, Cardiff City, Hereford United, Burnley, Sunderland, Luton Town, Hull City and Halifax Town,
Michael Raynes who was signed as a young 12 year old by Edukick Manchester head coach Neil Garside in 1999 for Stockport County centre of excellence, has played professionally for Stockport County, Swansea, Scunthorpe United, Oxford United, Rotherham United, Mansfield town and Carlisle United.
Chris Hurst a former trainee at Macclesfield Town and is now pursuing a coaching career at the highest level.
Sessions from all three were great this week and gave the lads another chance to shine in front of some influential people in the game. Further opportunities that they can grasp, as did Blaiz who has secured himself a 6 week trial with Championship side and former premier league champions Blackburn Rovers following last month’s PFA sessions at the Cliff, training ground of Manchester united. Blaiz was seen by the Blackburn coach attending their course, along with the others who commented on his ability. Blackburn then sent their head scout to the game the following week and for his last 6 weeks with Edukick he will be part of the Blackburn Rovers youth set up, hoping to really showcase what he can do. Just another example of never knowing when your opportunity may come.
We still have several of these PFA sessions left this season, with many more planned going into the new season, so hopefully they can prove to be a further showcase platform for our players now and in the future.
